Surgical Robotics

Research into the use of surgical robotics mirrors our work in 3D-intraoperative ultrasound wherein the surgeon receives constant volumetric image updates from an ultrasonic probe that scans the surgical site via a robotic arm that follows a moving target within the patient and scans the operative site. Images are then transferred to a computer, which reconstructs a three-dimensional model of the tissue in real time. Applications of surgical robotics to stereotactic radiosurgery are also being investigated.
